Mathematical quiz?
Three friends check into a motel for the night and the clerk tells them the bill is $30, payable in advance. So, they each pay the clerk $10 and go to their room. A few minutes later, the clerk realizes he has made an error and overcharged the trio by $5. He asks the bellhop to return $5 to the 3 friends who had just checked in. The bellhop sees this as an opportunity to make $2 as he reasons that the three friends would have a tough time dividing $5 evenly among them; so he decides to tell them that the clerk made a mistake of only $3, giving a dollar back to each of the friends. He pockets the leftover $2 and goes home for the day! Now, each of the three friends gets a dollar back, thus they are each out of pocket $9 for the room which is a total of $27 for the night. We know the bellhop pocketed $2 and adding that to the $27, you get $29, not $30 which was originally spent. Where did the other dollar go?

The reason there appears to be a missing dollar in the question is because the question tells you to add the bellhop's money to the $27, rather than subtract it. The reason you are supposed to subtract it is that the $2 came out of the $27 paid, not in addition to it.

nothing has disappeared here...you have just followed the erroneous instructions of the storyteller...there is 25 dollars
in the till, 2 dollars in the bellhop's pocket and 3 dollars in the
friends' pockets(1 dollar each)...add these(25+3+2=30) and the moneyis accounted for. In this classic(I 1st heard this over 40years ago.) The clerk has lost 2 dollars to the bellhop; therefore you should subtract from 27(not add to 27) toget 25 dollars, the amount received by the clerk. In short,
the bellhop has stolen 2 dollars from the clerk who should have gotten 27 instead of 25.

Tonight one was on and they were asking the viewer to find animals in the word search. Tiger and Lion were easily found yet not correct answers while "BEE" was!!!
I'm sure as hell a Bee is an insect, this is just a trick and a con and it has already been raisedi n government but yet they still continue to show!

In spite of the fact that I'm quite sure ITV is breaching its "Public Service" mandate I think the answer to this is simple.
If people will only look at this stuff and think, "You bunch of tossers, you just want my cash," then people will stop calling and the shows would go off air in about two days.
Unfortunately, these shows exist because there is a class of brain-donors out there. These people think they have a chance to win just because the handsome boy and the nice lady in the little dress say they need winners.
Its a sad fact that - like porn - these shows are making lots of cash because the market is there. They won't stop until the market goes away.

Why do you need them to be played backwards, why not just play them normally then stop after a few seconds, they'll not get the full song but will stand a chance to working out what it is.

And His Word says that He set Apostles, Prophets, Pastors, Teachers...in the Church for the "perfecting of the saints, for the work of ministry." Doesn't sound to me like Christ thinks Pastor's and Ministers are wolves in sheep's clothing since He is the one who placed them in the Church to start with.

People that claim "I don't need to go to church or have any teacher, all I need is my Bible" are foolish. We all need to place ourselves in the presence of godly human teachers. Of course, ALWAYS listen to these people in the light of Scripture and make sure their teaching is in line with what the Bible says.
But to answer your question. Jesus is god in human flesh and His church are those who place their trust in Him.

What are some good strategies in a quiz bowl competition?
this quiz bowl will be about economics questions at high school level, and with the buzzer system. will it be a good idea to buzz before the question is complete? should i buzz RIGHT AFTER the speaker finish the questions? what other strategies are good in this kind of competition???

What are some good strategies in a quiz bowl competition?
Focus on the question; you can buzz in early, but be sure you know the answer before you buzz in. Some questions are written to make you think they will ask one thing when at the end they ask something different. If the competition is about one specific subject, as yours is, it can't hurt to review some books or notes you have on the subject (in general knowledge quiz bowl you can't really study). Most of all, have fun!
